Help Us Raise Money for New Murals Coming to Town

We are very excited to announce that our Chamber will be collaborating with other local businesses to bring four new murals to Iola. The murals will appear over the next 12-18 months, with the first one going on the east outside wall of our current Chamber building. The mural on the Chamber building will depict the Fearless Fred trolley and span about 7 feet x 12 feet. Work on the mural will start in September by local designer and mural artist, Max Grundy

Additional murals will begin to appear on the buildings of Audacious Boutique, Derryberry Breadery and one additional downtown building over the next year-and-a-half. For more information about the murals, stop by our Chamber at 10 W Jackson Ave in Iola. Or contact us at chamber@iolachamber.org or 620.365.5252.

If you’re excited about the idea of bringing additional artwork to Iola, the perfect opportunity is coming up for you to help support it. To help raise funds to complete the four downtown murals, we invite you to shop the silent auction from September 16 - September 21. All proceeds from the silent auction will help pay for paint supplies and the artists’ time.

The silent auction will be open to all businesses as well as the general public. If you have any questions, please feel free to stop by our office or contact us at chamber@iolachamber.org or 620.365.5252.

The Piqua State Bank was organized in 1910 by L. C. Neimann. During that same year the Farmers State Bank was opened in Piqua by George Wille. In 1914, the Wille family purchased the Piqua State Bank and merged the two banks under the name of the Piqua State Bank. John Wille, George Willis's son, owned and managed the bank for the next 50 years.

The Bank was eventually purchased by Galen L. (Jack) Curry following his retirement from the Army. The Curry family has owned and operated the bank to this day. The bank is now the only locally owned locally operated bank in Woodson and Allen counties. Several Curry family members are employed by the bank and the bank continues to grow and prosper.

It is the mission of the Piqua State Bank to maintain the safety of the depositor's money, maximize profits for the stockholders, and have a positive impact on the community.
