Iola Area Chamber Ambassadors an army of “Chamber Champions” that support the Chamber's mission and perform a wide variety of duties for the Chamber. Their main function is to help promote the Chamber, welcome new members to the Chamber, assist in celebrating ribbon-cutting ceremonies, and make Chamber events successful. They are a special group of people who volunteer their time to help promote the Iola Area business community and support Chamber functions.

Iola Area Chamber Ambassador Program Details

Requirements

One year commitment
Be a chamber of commerce member via through individual membership, your occupation, or an organization (exceptions for retirees)
Agree and accept mission, code of conduct, and confidentiality policies
Commit to ambassador duties

Duty Expectations

Attend a minimum of 50% of monthly meetings each year (once per month)
Volunteer for community and chamber events
Attend as many ribbon-cutting ceremonies as possible each year
Post/share Iola Area Chamber social media posts
Wear Chamber Ambassador t-shirt at events
Welcome new Chamber members (this can be through social media, email, visit, etc.)
Cultivate and refer new members
Invite and spread the word about business work-shops/events/etc.

Keeping Track of Ambassador Participation

Sign-in sheet at events and meetings (if a sheet is not provided, record hours when volunteering and submit to lindsay.myers@iolachamber.org)

Ambassador Rewards/Appreciation

The Chamber will tag ambassadors and their business on social media when participating in events, ribbon cuttings, etc.
The Chamber will select an ambassador of the month and ambassador of the year with recognition on social media, at ambassador meetings, etc.
Annual member event/dinner with awards given to the outstanding ambassador of the year

Monthly Meetings

Once a month, one-hour meeting
Meetings will consist of updates on Chamber happenings and upcoming plans

Exclusivity

Exclusive social media recognition of ambassador and their business/organization/etc
Ambassador t-shirt
Monthly meetings for ambassadors only
Private Ambassadors Facebook group
Ambassador page on the Chamber website with photos of volunteering and events

Code of Conduct

Must present a positive image of the Iola Area Chamber, its services, and its members
Cannot slander the Chamber, other ambassadors, or other member businesses (including on social media)
Avoid conflicts of interest
Confidentiality of items and events discussed in meetings unless told otherwise
Respectful conversations at monthly meetings

Resignations/Change of Employment

While we strongly encourage ambassadors to commit to a year of service, they can resign at any time
If an ambassador leaves their current member business, we ask that you let us know as soon as possible
