Let’s go fishing! The annual HOFNOD fishing derby is getting ready to start this morning. The rules will be announced at 9:00, so if you aren’t on your way, you still have a few minutes to get to Craig Abbott’s pond. This is a great kids event with age groups of 2-8, 9-12, and 13-17. Prizes will be given for largest fish, most fish and most weight in fish. Fishing starts at 9:30 with the first 300 kids getting a prize for participating. Come on down to Riverside Park for the commemorative flood event this evening beginning at 4:00. This event offers a time of reflection and a celebration of progress. Survivors are encouraged to bring items to display on the wall of rememberance. A free BBQ dinner, guest speakers and live entertainment are sure to make this a successful event. So come hungry, bring the lawn chairs and get ready to catch up with your neighbor as the community continues to heal from the disaster. Free transportaion will be provided to the park aboard Molly Trolley. Pick up locations are Jefferson and Lincoln Elementaray schools and Townhouse West and Riverside park every 30 minutes beginning at 3:30. This service is provided as a courtesy of the city of Iola.
Back by popular demand, Molly Trolley’s special tours, the Historical Homes, Cemetery and Flower tours, are scheduled in July.
